Global Action Plan for Forestry Education - GAPFE
Members of IFSA, aware of the importance of forestry education and of the problems that it is currently facing, have taken the initiative to address the issue and propose a document called the Global Action Plan for Forestry Education (GAPFE) as a discussion piece and potential way forward to increase society's ability to respond to the demands of forestry education. This document was drafted by a group of IFSA students, and all IFSA members had the ability to comment on the text. The received comments were incorporated into the document to provide IFSA's position.
The GAPFE should be seen as a discussion paper which needs to be improved by involving a wide range of concerned actors to reach a general consensus. It has be first presented on the World Forestry Congress 2009, October 18th-23rd during the forestry education session, followed by a discussion which aimed to gather reactions and seek for possible improvements. Both paper and discussion aimed to initiate concerted and participative process towards a worldwide improvement in forestry education's efficiency.
The current version of the discussion paper is available here.
