At IFSS 2017 in South Africa, our General Assembly established a New Liaison Officer (LO) position for Youth in Landscapes Initiative (YIL).

YIL is a partnership between IFSA, YPARD (Young Professionals for Agricultural Development) and Global AgroEcology Alliance (GAEA) which was formed in 2014. It is a youth-led initiative that unites and empowers youth (aged 18-35 years) from diverse backgrounds around the world to have a voice, and affect positive change in their landscapes and livelihoods. It does this through training, workshops and the facilitation of sessions at major events such as the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF).

YIL has sought to arrange events in collaboration with GLF events, and has hosted a major youth session and skills development workshop at the past three GLFs (2014-2016). YIL actively works with GLF and CIFOR to develop an innovative and meaningful programme to support mutual objectives.  It is important for IFSA and youth engagement in global dialogues that this partnership continues and fosters the excelled development of interested youth.

The LO (Liaison Officer) is the main correspondent between IFSA and one of its professional partners. LOs report directly to the President and are responsible for the management between IFSA and the official partner until July 2018.

  • Engage, following the direction of the YIL steering committee, with representatives from the Global Landscapes Forum and CIFOR;
