Opportunities offered by the cooperation with Professional Organizations

- Would you like to participate in a scientific conference?

- Are you interested in writing an article for a partner organisation's journal?

Through the cooperation with our professional partners IFSA broadens students possibilities to:

  • Get to know the professional organisations in the forest field and so improve the knowledge of possible job options after finishing studies;
  • Participate of scientific conferences and workshops
  • Write articles.

Doubts? Please contact the respective Liaison Officers. For information about next events check out the calendar under "professional partners meetings". You can also find more detailed information about the partnerships in the "Memoranda of Understanding" (MoU).

The following points are examples of cooperation between IFSA and its professional partners:

Participate in a seminar organised by a Professional Partner

Through the Memorandum of Understanding, IFSA is offering to its members the opportunity to participate in the seminars and conferences organised by IUFRO or EFI. There is usually at least one place for IFSA students in all seminars.

The participation is either for free, or for a reduced fee. In case of free participation, students are asked to help the organisers by doing little jobs, like making coffee or ushering.

How to act?
Once you have spotted a IUFRO or EFI conference you want to participate in, you need to follow the procedure below. And remember, you should always go through IFSA. Do not contact the organisers by yourself!

1st step: At least one month before the closing date of registration and at least two months before the start of the conference, you must forward your application to the IFSA Secretariat.
The application shall include:

  • A statement on your level of education
  • A motivation letter (you should specify whether you have previous experience with the topic of the event)
  • Your CV
  • Field of interest
  • A proof of IFSA membership (it is enough to tell what local committee you belong to and have a statement of LC that you are a member there)

2nd step: Your application will be submitted to the organisers by IFSA and the result will be given to you as soon as possible.

3rd step: In case of acceptance, you will be asked by IFSA (and sometimes the organisers also) to write a report about the event you participated in. This report shall (at least) include:

  • A short description about the meeting and its main topic
  • A description of your contribution to the event (Poster, Presentation, work done to help the organisers...)
  • Nice photos to illustrate the text and make the report comfortable to read!

EFI Scholarship

This scholarship will be announced via our mailing list and IFSA News.
In case you believe that you match the required qualifications, you will need to send all needed application material to the IFSA Secretariat. The Secretariat will confirm your membership status and forward your application to the IFSA-EFI Liaison Officer who will present your application to EFI.

EFI Traineeship

Your application should be sent directly to the EFI Secretariat. There, it will be made available for Programme Managers and Researchers who will contact you directly if they have a need for a Trainee.
