facebook and twitter. Meet the first 6 of our delegates: Steffen Dehn Steffen Steffen Dehn studied International Forest Ecosystem Management at the University for Sustainable Development in Eberswalde, Germany. His areas of focus are international climate policy, food security and ecosystem-based climate change adaptation and mitigation. He currently is the focal point for the Major Group Children and Youth to the United Nations Forum on Forests. After working with GIZ in the field of development cooperation in Indonesia, he recently kicked off his freelancing career combining human-centered creative elements from Design Thinking with his areas of interest to foster innovative approaches to natural resource management challenges. Jesse Mahoney Jesse Jesse is an international forest policy expert and an advocate for meaningful youth engagement in addressing global sustainability challenges. He has a wealth of experience in both government and private sectors, and is a past President of the International Forestry Students’ Association. In 2017, he was awarded the Prince of Wales Award for Sustainable Forestry. Jesse is a focal point for the Major Group for Children and Youth UNFF and developed the first ever global plan of action for youth to support the Global Forest Goals. He hopes to make it easier for everyday people to understand the benefits of forests and sustainable forest products. Silvia PiantaSilvia Silvia is a PhD student in Public Policy and Administration at Bocconi University and Junior Research Fellow at the IEFE Centre for Research on Energy and Environmental Economics and Policy. In 2018 she is visiting the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton. Her research focuses on the perception of climate change and environmental issues. She is currently working on a research project on how different actors conceptualize and frame the problem of deforestation and how the debate on deforestation at the international level has evolved over time. Caroline Tasirin CarolineCaroline is a first-year Master of Forest Science student at Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Born and raised in Indonesia, Caroline designed outreach and engagement programs for forest and wildlife conservation, each program tailored to the issues and needs of the communities across her home province of North Sulawesi. Her research interests include tropical forest ecology and dynamics and she aspires to make science and conservation practice more accessible to forest-dependent communities in her home province. Caroline holds a B.Sc. in Forestry from Sam Ratulangi University in Manado, Indonesia, and is a CIFOR-USAID scholar at Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Naomi van den Berg Naomi is a Dutch second-year MSc student at NaomiWageningen University, studying Resource Ecology within the Forest & Nature Conservation program. Although forests may be pretty small and fragmented in the Netherlands, Naomi grew up fascinated by these ecosystems and has been connected to forests ever since. As a member of the Dutch official youth think tank, she is involved in providing policy advice to the Dutch Ministries about green matters such as the energy transition towards renewables, a challenging intersection between science and policy. Her research includes carbon storage in soils, modelling ecosystem dynamics, and mapping changes in migration patterns (both flora and fauna) as a response to climate change. Her ambitions are to contribute to conservation science and policy, safeguarding our planet’s biodiversity. Lisa Prior Lisa is currently concluding a Master of Forest Science at Georg-August-University Göttingen, Germany with a focus onLisa forest economy and utilization. As the current Executive Secretary of the International Forestry Students’ Association, she strives to facilitate meaningful youth engagement in forest science and policy events. Lisa holds a B.Sc. in International Forest Ecosystem Management from the University for Sustainable Development in Eberswalde, Germany and a Higher National Certificate in Gamekeeping with Wildlifemanagement from the University of the Highlands and Islands, UK.]]>
