The second round of Behavioral Event Interviews (BEI) for the Global Outlook on Forest Education (GOFE) is now ready to start. Students and teachers from several Universities in nine countries representing five continents have already analysed the competencies needed for working in the sector (results shared in GOFE 1.0 see https://foresteducation.
The BEI method used in this research is based on success and failure stories by recent graduates in the workforce. Most interviews were conducted by MSc students or upper year undergraduates in order to write their thesis along with the GOFE process. Interviews were a window into the labor market for these students and provide a rich picture of the current working life among Young Forest Professionals. For Universities these interviews have been an input to curriculum development process.
The Joint Task Force on Forest Education is proud to announce the launching of the second phase of the GOFE research; seeking a new group of motivated students to join the GOFE and work with this exciting methodology!
